Marcus Antonius Ynalvez, Ph.D.
Interim Dean of College of Arts and Sciences

Welcome to the College of Arts and Sciences!

The College is the largest and most comprehensive academic unit at the university. Our faculty represent academic disciplines related to the behavioral, biological, chemical, engineering, mathematical, physical, and social sciences. We also cover the humanities, including languages and history, and the fine and performing arts, which include art, dance, music, and theater.

Our mission includes teaching, research, and creative activities, as well as serving local, regional, national, and international communities. We aim to prepare our students to think analytically, creatively, and critically, to communicate and interact effectively, and to become leaders in their communities, chosen fields, and career trajectories.

Our goals are to establish and enhance academic programs and initiatives to meet the needs of an ever-changing global society and its environment, technologies, and values. Additionally, we aim to expand and improve students’ international experiences through study abroad programs, research abroad experiences, and research opportunities. We also seek to foster an appreciation of and learning from international cultures, philosophies, and knowledge.

The College of Arts and Sciences Office of the Dean is prepared to help you navigate your academic career.

Rebecca Alvarado

"As a Texas A&M International University alumna, I am excited to share that I've been accepted into Harvard Medical School’s Bernardo Sabatini Laboratory as a Research Assistant, with the goal of applying to MD/PhD programs and becoming a physician-scientist. Holding both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology from TAMIU, I've gained valuable experiences from being a TAMIU student, which has led me to work at the National Institute of Health, presenting at major conferences, and publishing in academic journals. I've been honored with multiple awards for my academic and community contributions, and my research interests include the neuroscience behind learning and behavior and the dopamine reward system. I credit my success to the support of my family, mentors, and my faith."
