Program Information:
The Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology will prepare you to serve the mental health needs of communities and individuals from diverse backgrounds. You will also learn to use preventative strategies to promote mental health while responding sensitively to the special life issues of border communities.
The Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology is accredited by the Master's in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council (MPCAC) for the period of January 2018 through January 2028.

Residential treatment facilities, Hospitals, Behavioral Health Programs, Social Service Agencies, Nonprofit Organizations, Religious and Pastorals Organizations, Child Guidance Clinics, Family Planning Programs, Public and Private Schools, State and Federal Agencies.
Program Requirements:
- Minimum upper-level GPA of at least a 3.0
- Prerequisite stemwork: PSYC 3302, PSYC 4301, PSYC 4303 and PSYC 4308
- Three letters of recommendation
- Official GRE scores
- Personal Statement: Minimum 300-words detailing your career goals, aspirations, and timetable for completion of their program
- Background Check (Must be completed within 90 days of April 30th)*
- Interview**

*If arrested after the background results are submitted, student is required to report the arrest within 10 business days or 5 days prior to the 1st class day, whichever comes first. Failure to do so could result in disciplinary action.
**Upon submission of the above documents, students will be sent for review to the Department and can potentially be contacted to interview.
