Faculty Annual Evaluation

At TAMIU, faculty performance evaluations are necessary to communicate the faculty member’s overall performance during a review period, recognize meritorious performance, and identify areas needing improvement for the following evaluation period regardless of contract or tenure status.

Every year, in accordance with the Faculty Handbook, all full-time faculty are evaluated based on the terms of employment for which they were hired. Below is the workflow process, the evaluation forms, and training information for AEFIS/HELIOS platform.

Workflow Process

  1. Faculty submit the PPE via HelioCampus the first week of February.
  2. PPE submission is received, assessed, and scored by Department/Division Chair (or College Dean if no department/division Chair exists).
  3. Faculty will receive a notification that his/her PPE has been assessed (i.e., Chair has provided scores and comments). Faculty must acknowledge that they have reviewed his/her PPE scores and must agree to meet with Chair. Once faculty acknowledge, the form goes back to the Chair.
    1. Note: This step does NOT imply faculty agree/disagree with assessment. This step is for faculty to review the assessment and make an appointment to meet with the Chair to discuss the PPE. Faculty have the opportunity to agree/disagree with the scores in Step 5.
  4. Chair is notified faculty reviewed the PPE and chair will schedule a meeting to discuss the PPE. At the end of the meeting, the Chair can modify scores, if an error was made. The chair then acknowledges and approves the PPE.
  5. Faculty will receive a second notification with the final assessment/scores by his/her chair. At this time, faculty agree or disagree with the chair’s assessment. Faculty has the opportunity to write comments. Faculty must acknowledge the assessment in order for the dean to review the PPE.
  6. PPE and assessment is received and assessed by the appropriate college Dean. The Dean will agree or not agree with the Chair’s assessment. The college dean has the opportunity to add comments.
  7. PPE and assessment received and signed by Provost. The Provost will agree or not agree with the chair or dean’s assessment.
