Orientation Leaders
Become an Orientation Leader
Orientation Leaders (OLs) are current students that serve as a integral part of the new student experience by welcoming students, family, and guest to TAMIU during the summer orientation program. OLs should model TAMIU’s Core Values of Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence throughout their academic and professional career as well as becoming a role model. Orientation Leaders will work collaboratively with a team of Orientation Supervisors, Orientation Leader Coordinators (OLCs), and Professional Staff. Being an Orientation Leader is a great way for any student to grow as a leader, communicator, and change agent on campus.
The 2025 Orientation Leader Applications are now available! Applications are due Friday, October 11th, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.
Orientation leader frequently asked questions
This year, the orientation leader spring training will be a class! You are expected to sign up for the class regardless if the course is 0 credit course. We will only consider alternate options if you have a major specific class that is only offered during that time.
Yes! The Orientation Leader opportunity is a student employment position within our S.O.L.E. office.
Absolutely. This is a leadership role on campus. We have hired students with no work experience, and those with a lot. We take many factors into consideration while hiring our team.
Please indicate on the application, any time conflicts you will have throughout the summer. It is imperative that we have adequate staffing for each orientation session. We can work with you on some dates, but the required dates are when we need all hands-on deck. This can be discussed further with a supervisor, if there are extenuating circumstances.
Orientation Leaders live in an on-campus residence dorm. The exact space is provided as we approach summer orientation. Orientation Leaders are required to stay at the dorms throughout the summer.
We do check GPAs at the end of the Fall semester to ensure that all orientation leaders meet the required GPA.
