Safe Zone Committee:
The Safe Zone Committee will encompass all individuals who have completed the workshop and who would like to be actively involved in promoting this program. Title IX Program:
Title IX is the federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in schools that receive federal funding — including in their athletics programs. Office of Student Conduct and Community Engagement:
The Office of Student Conduct and Community Engagement works to promote a safe and healthy community for students at TAMIU. Guided by the student honor code, SCCE works to promote active decision-making, bystander awareness and the reduction of risky behavior for our campus community. Students, faculty and staff are also encouraged to utilize Report it!, an online system to report violations of the student code of conduct or issues related to student safety.

Counseling Center:
Free services are available to all TAMIU students through the University Counseling Center. Counseling is available by appointment and emergency care is also available. Counselors can assist students with emotional, personal or relationship concerns as well as many other areas related to transition.

Office of Student Health Services
The Office of student Health Services provides many services to help students maintain their health. These services include: well women exams, sexual health education, doctor consultations, routine care and health promotion by Registered Nurses, wellness activities, TB tests, Meningitis vaccines required for admission, Flu vaccines, HPV vaccines, Sexually Transmitted Illnesses (STI) screenings, and Travel health visits.

PILLAR
Pillar is an organizations located in Laredo, TX that is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of people from diverse communities by furthering effective suicide and bullying prevention. They also offer a free, 24-Hour hotline for crisis prevention.

The mission of Serving Children and Adults in Need is to foster the healthy development of individuals and families through empowerment opportunities that are effective, culturally-responsive, trauma-informed and community-centered. District Attorney’s Office
Protective Orders & Domestic Violence Unit
If one wishes to apply for a protective order to press charges related to a crime of sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, or obtain a protective order, the District Attorney’s office can offer such services and support.

The TAMIU STRESS Center is a program run by TAMIU Graduate Students that is free and open to both TAMIU and non-TAMIU community members. Here, free counseling services are available to individuals experiencing personal or relationship stressors.

Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD): https://glaad.org/ GLAAD’s mission is to amplify the voice of the LGBT community by empowering real people to share their stories, hold the media accountable for the words and images they present, and helping grassroots organizations communicate effectively.
