- January 2022- New Year
The Office of Global Initiatives welcomed the New Year participating in virtual meetings with different local and regional organizations.
- January 18-21 2022 - Dominican Republic Delegation visits TAMIU
A delegation from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Small Business of the Dominican Republic visited TAMIU and Laredo this week. During their visit they met with different federal, state, and local representatives, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF), as well as Customs and Border Protection (CBP), amongst others.
- February 9, 2022 - Office of Global Initiatives - Expologística Transporte
The Office of Global Initiatives represented our University at the opening of the National Logistics Expo titled “Expologistica de Transporte”. The Expo was a three day event in Querétaro, Querétaro, México
- February 10, 2022 - Second Meeting of the North American Alliance of Logistics and Supply Chain Clusters
- February 21, 2022 - Binational River Park Meeting
The Office of Global Initiatives and the Texas Center were present at the Binational River Park meeting with US Ambassador to Mexico Ken Salazar.
- March 31, 2022 - Binational Border Mechanism Meeting
- April 7, 2022 - Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (U.A.T.) and Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) sign MOA
Dr. Pablo Arenaz, President of and Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) and C.P. Guillermo Mendoza Cavazos, Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (U.A.T.) signed a Memorandum of Agreement between their two institutions. After the signing of the agreement, the Deans of 17 Colleges of the U.A.T. met with Deans and Directors of TAMIU to work on possible projects including dual degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- May 3, 2022 - XXXIII Border Legislative Conference in Riverside, CA
The Office of Global Initiatives attended the XXXIII Border Legislative Conference in Riverside, California. Our International Relations Program Manager Mariana Barberena presented on “Preparing for our Future: Cooperation in Higher Education”, where she highlighted our extensive relationship with Mexican Universities and institutions.
- May 17-19, 2022 - International Advisory Board Meeting of the Law and Criminology School of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuev León.
The Office of Global Initiatives Program Manager Mariana Barberena travelled to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon to participate in the fourth International Advisory Board meeting of the Law and Criminology School of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo Leon. A report was delivered reflecting changes in the curriculum as proposed in previous meetings.
- June 20-24, 2022 - Law and Criminology Students from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (U.A.N.L.) visit TAMIU
The Office of Global Initiatives received a group of Criminology and Law students from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (U.A.N.L.). The students took a course on the Criminal System of the United States, in which they were able to meet and visit with local, state and federal government agencies.
- September 8, 2022 -Binational Discussion: "Border Water Supply" Sources and Challenges
The Office of Global Initiatives / Binational Center with the City of Laredo hosted the Binational Discussion: "Border Water Supply" Sources and Challenges. Speakers from both Texas and Mexico presented on the panel.
- September 8, 2022 -VII Binational Art Exhibit
The Office of Global Initiatives / Binational Center hosted the VII Binational Art Exhibit with the Mexican Consulate General in Laredo, Texas. The event was inaugurated by Ambassador Juan Carlos Mendoza, Consul General of Mexico in Laredo, Texas and Mrs.Maria Eugenia Calderón-Porter, Assistant VP for Global Initiatives.
- September 23, 2022 -Letras en la Frontera - Encuentro de Escritores
The Office of Global Initiatives / Binational Center hosted the XI Meeting of Writers on the Border. This was the first time in 13 years that the UNAM San Antonio held the event on the border. The event was coordinated with the Art and Culture Department of the City of Nuevo Laredo.
- October 5, 2022 - U.S. Department of State presents Career Opportunities for TAMIU Students
The Office of Global Initiatives with the Office of Career Services hosted a group of members from the U.S. Department of State who presented on the different career opportunities they offer for our students.
- October 21, 2022 - Students from the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (U.A.T.) visit TAMIU
The Office of Global Initiatives / Binational Center hosted a group of students from the Business Administration, Trade and Social Sciencies School of the Universidad Atuónoma de Tamaulipas in Nuevo Laredo (U.A.T.). The students toured the campus and met with representatives of The Graduate School as well as the International Language Institute.
- October 24-25, 2022 - International Executive Seminar on U.S. Criminal Justice System for professors of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León
The Office of Global Initiatives / Binational Center offered and International Executive Seminar on the U.S. Criminal Justice System for professors of the Law and Criminology School of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (U.A.N.L.). During their visit the group met with representatives of the local, state and federal government.
- October 28,2022 - Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal offers conference on international trade.
- November 14-15 2022 - International Executive Seminar on International Trade and Business for professors of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León
The Office of Global Initiatives / Binational Center offered and International Executive Seminar on international trade and business for professors of the Law and Criminology School of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (U.A.N.L.). During their visit the group met with representatives of the international trade sector and visited World Trade Bridge.
- December 12, 2022 - Bicentenial Anniversary of U.S. Mexico Diplomatic Relations
The Office of Global Initiatives / Binational Center offered a panel with Mexican Consul General in Laredo, Texas, Juan Carlos Mendoza Sánchez and with U.S. Consul General in Nuevo Laredo Deanna Kim. The diplomats spoke about the historical and current relationship between the two countrires. Dr. Federico Schaffler was the moderator for the panel.
