Disability Services for Students

The office of Disability Services for Students works hard to ensure that students receive the appropriate alternative testing accommodations for the students that currently receive academic accommodations through our office. We want your testing experience to be smooth and efficient with minimal disruption. In order to do so and continue to maintain the integrity of the test being administered, all testing will take place at the Testing Center. The following rules are provided to help facilitate a seamless process as possible. These include:

• Students should fill out a alternative test request through AIM and submit it at least 48 Business HOURS in advance. Testing space is LIMITED and any alternative test requests not submitted on time may not be guaranteed.

• Students will test at the Testing Center at the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center, Room 201. In order to maintain the integrity of the testing center and the exams being administered, please review the testing center’s information at TAMIU Testing Center.

• Students are to schedule exams at the regular class time unless the student has a conflict with their class schedule or with Testing Center hours of operation. In this case, students are instructed to discuss alternate testing times with their instructors prior to submitting an alternative test request in AIM.

• For online exams that do not require a proctor, please confirm with the professor that the extended time accommodation is in place on the designated platform (Blackboard, Tophat, etc). A student may not need to complete an alternative test request if the student will not be testing at the Zaffirini Testing Center or at the DSS Office. However, please contact DSS if you did not receive your alternative testing accommodations during an online exam.

Please review your copy of the alternative testing accommodations: The Faculty Notification Letter will include your approved alternative testing accommodations. You may find this notification in your Dusty Email or by visiting the AIM Portal.
