Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology
The mission of the Kinesiology non-certification program is to educate and prepare qualified professionals in kinesiology and health/wellness in order to promote healthy and active lifestyles to citizens of the Border Region, the state of Texas, and nation/international communities.
A degree in Kinesiology provides students with:
- Candidates will be able to effectively evaluate and interpret the components of health related fitness.
- Candidates will be able to effectively discuss and synthesize current issues in health, physical activity and wellness.
- Candidates will be able to effectively develop quality wellness programs for the individuals and community.

- Select and effectively use appropriate technologies in the content field to solve problems.
- Knowledge of the connections between anatomical structures, physiological and cellular mechanisms of exercise.
- Evaluate ethical actions in research and practice.

- Knowledge of the relationship among behavior, physical activity, functional capacity and health and disease across the life span.
- Using proficient reasoning and critical thinking to analyze, synthesize and evaluate information to make sound decisions and solve problems

- Produce well-reasoned written products and or research plans analyzing and integrating multiple points of view.
- Relay information both written and spoken, in a clear and concise manner to a variety of populations utilizing ethnic and cultural sensitivity.
- Articulate in oral and/or written forms a coherent understanding of the program content demonstrating theories, principles, and practices.
