The Honors Program accepts applications all year round. However, we only accept new members for the Spring and Fall semester. We do not accept students during the Summer semesters.
Please contact the Office of University Honors at 956.326.2133 or email us at honors@tamiu.edu to know what is the most recent deadline for the Honors Application.
After you have been accepted into the Honors Program, you will be directed to your Department Faculty Representative. They will pair you up with a Mentor who is interested in working with you if you don't have one already.
If you already have a Faculty Mentor interested in working with you. You are free to offer the Agreement Contract to them.
All members are required to complete 30 community engagement hours within the academic year.
Yes, however, the event will need to be approved by The Office of Student Conduct and Community Engagement prior to any participation.
All members of the Honors Program are required to complete 2 out of the 5 TAMIU Trailblazer Learning Dimensions by their time of graduation.

Yes! If you are part of the Honors Program and would like to request funding, please fill out the UHURP Student Travel Fund and attach an Honors Student Faculty Mentor approval, among other listed documentation.
- Complete all UHURP Student Travel Fund sections at least four weeks before departure.
- Upload all required documents in the Requested Documents section:
- Copy of your unofficial transcript.

- Evidence of conference participation (i.e., acceptance email/letter, name, abstract in the program, registration fee, etc.).

- Travel Liability Waiver Form (applications must have this form to be considered).

- Faculty Mentor Approval Form. If submitting a request during summer, proof (i.e., copy of schedule) of enrollment in the fall semester is needed.
Once the Request Form has been submitted, the Honors Program Office will review the application. If approved for funding, students and faculty mentors will be notified via email.

Students who graduate with the honors program will automatically be accepted into TAMIU Graduate School (not any other institutions). The only exceptions are those in MACP (Counseling Psychology) and FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner Program).
