Outreach Events
ADVISE Interns will design and implement hands on learning activities for outreach events. Interns learn how to effectively explain a topic of their choice, obtain experience in the process of developing an educational idea into a usable exhibit/classroom exercise and improve their abilities to clearly communicate lesson topics. These activities facilitate outreach to the local community, highlight science education as a profession, TAMIU General Science with 7-12 Certification Degree, and the Title V-ADVISE Program.
ADVISE Interns had three interactive science demonstrations at Discover TAMIU 2023. Attendees were able to create lava lamps with Mari, explore osmosis using Orbeez with Daisy, and make home playdough with Krysta.
The event took place on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Over 100 people visited the ADVISE tables.
