University College

A full-time staff member who works with students one-on-one to ensure you are taking the correct classes for your field of study or graduate on time. You can find your advisor on DegreeWorks or check the Registration Hub for further assistance.

ACE is made up of two units:

• ACE - Advising & Retention offers academic advising and early alert services.
• ACE - Academic Support offers tutoring, supplemental instruction, and study skill workshops. Open 7-days a week for FREE services.

Developmental Education (DE) courses are carefully designed to help build your foundational skills in college reading, math and writing so you will be more prepared to excel in your future college courses.

If you're experiencing challenges in your class, such as not submitting your assignments on time or missing too many classes, your professor will submit an alert to your advisor so they can reach out to you to help you get back on your path to success.

The belief that everyone can improve if they are willing to receive feedback, put in the effort, ask for help, take advantage of resources around them, examine past performance, and accept help from others. It is contrasted with a fixed mindset, which is the belief that you are born they way you are, and there is nothing you can do to change.

First-Year Experience is a full-year curriculum for first-year students or any student who needs to complete core curriculum requirements. Courses include UNIV 1201 in the fall and UNIV 1302 in the spring.

The MDS degree is offered by University College. This is one of the most exciting majors because it allows students who have multiple interests to personalize their degree by selecting three areas of concentration instead of one major. If you’re a freshman and haven’t decided on a major yet, you’ll be automatically placed in an MDS major.

Reading the Globe: Common Read is a selection of literature to help you anchor yourself toward your vision of graduating on time. Once you have completed your UNIV 1201 class, you may apply for the study abroad program.

This course is also known as UNIV 1302 or the second half of the First-Year Experience. You’ll take it in the spring semester of your freshman year. You may choose from many different topics based on your interest. The courses are specifically designed to help you examine issues through an interdisciplinary, intellectual, and intercultural perspective.

Courses with SI leaders are geared toward helping students in traditionally challenging classes. SI leaders have done well in the course in previous semesters and can help others become successful as well by reviewing lectures, quizzes, and exams. Students who attend SI sessions are likelier to earn better grades than those who don't.
