HAPPY MONDAY DUSTDEVILS!

Here’s your Trailblazer Weekly Bulletin  for Monday, April 21, 2025.

Thanks to all who joined us to celebrate at our “Release the Quacken” event heralding our historic Spring Enrollment.  Watch this highlight video to reveal all the ducky fun.

We also had an opportunity last week to look into exciting student and faculty-advised research as part of our Undergraduate Research Day.  Our hats off to all the students and faculty for their innovative work and presentations.

And...congratulations to both TAMIU Baseball and Softball teams who celebrated their graduating Seniors in game day ceremonies here on campus.  Way to go, Dustdevils!

This Week:

We’ll gather Tuesday to celebrate Mother Earth with our Earth Day Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. along the Student Center walkway.   Our theme is “Protect, Preserve, and Participate.”  Activities will include a lights-out observance, fun yard games, solar-powered smoothies, tree adoption, and more.  Get the details.

Also Tuesday, TAMIU will host a Criminal Justice Career Expo with top local, non-profit, state, and federal agencies from 1 to 5 p.m. Learn more.

On Wednesday, explore “The French Connection” at the free Music on the Menu event at 12:10 in the CFPA Recital Hall. See the broad range of art, dance, and music presentations, including the Spring Dance Concert (Friday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. in CFPA Theatre), here.

Coming Up:

The College of Arts and Sciences will host an engaging lecture by Dr. William Kiser, professor and chair of the department of History at Texas A&M University-San Antonio on Wednesday, April 30 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. in Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 11.  His lecture will focus on warfare against Indians in American History.

Your Dustdevil Baseball and Softball teams are at bat with games as follows...

Baseball: TAMIU Baseball is away for games at Eastern New Mexico State University in Portales, NM April 25 – 27. Schedule here.

Softball:  TAMIU Softball will also be away in games against St. Edward’s University in Austin April 25 – 27. Schedule here.

Reminder:

Early Voting for the City of Laredo Bond Election opens tomorrow, Tuesday.  Bond elections are an opportunity for residents to vote on the City issuing bonds to fund major projects, including healthcare, senior housing, and police and fire departments. See a Sample Ballot and  find out more.   Exercise your right to vote!

In honor of Earth Day, famed zoologist, Jane Goodall, reminds us, “What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”

Let’s Go Dustdevils!
