The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is an appropriately constituted administrative body established to oversee the care and well-being of live vertebrate animals used for research and educational purposes by Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) faculty, employees, graduate, and undergraduate students, regardless of the source of funding. IACUC supervises live vertebrate animal research in accordance with the regulations of the Animal Welfare Act and its amendments, which are administered by the USDA through the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), and regulations in the Health Research Extension Act and its amendments, which are administered by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) through the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW.).
