TAMIU Hosts Annual ‘Giving Day’ Nov. 19 - 20
Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Giving Day, a 1,970 minutes-long celebration focused on the generosity provided by alumni, friends and community members, happened Tuesday, Nov. 19 – Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Individuals made their contributions online at alumni.tamiu.edu/giving to the program or project of their choice.
“TAMIU Giving Day is our community's annual chance to support TAMIU students. Giving Day lasts for 1,970 minutes to celebrate our University's founding year, 1970. During this time, alumni, families, students, and friends are invited to make a gift in support of our students through a fund they choose,” said Rosanne Palacios, TAMIU vice president for Institutional Advancement.
This year’s gifts supported a variety of University programs, including a memorial Endowment Fund established to honor the late Dr. Pablo Arenaz, the University’s sixth president. Memorial gifts help foster academic excellence and provide scholarships to enrich the lives of University students.
While contributions could be made to any University initiative, the following programs were spotlighted: Ballet Folklórico, Dusty’s Food Pantry, International Engagement, Leadership Programs, Mariachi Program, Reading the Globe, Student Emergency Fund, Student Nurses’ Association, TAMIU Alumni Association, TAMIU DustyMotors and Women’s Basketball.
The annual campaign has been part of TAMIU’s fundraising efforts on behalf of its students, faculty, and programs since 2015.
