As Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) employees ready for the holiday season, they’re doing so with the added incentive of a combination of bonuses and pay increases provided by the University to its employees.

Juan J. Castillo, interim president, said a combination of awards and merit increases were deployed and applicable to eligible part and full-time employees.

“Like other State agencies, we operate on a lean budget tied to our ability to generate, Semester Credit Hours (SCH) through enrollment growth, which determines our budget allocation. Our Spring and Summer enrollment increases made this possible.  This enabled us to reward our employees for ‘Going Beyond,’ providing a one-time bonus of $1,000 to full-time employees and a one-time bonus of $500 to part-time employees.

But that’s not all, Castillo noted.

“In addition, the University always challenges our employees to deliver our mission through demonstrated meritorious service that earns merit increase consideration.  This year’s merit pool, again based on outstanding performance that has helped the University secure record enrollment and SCH gains, was 3% for qualified full-time employees.

Castillo noted that total TAMIU compensation is also much more than bonus and salary increases.

“TAMIU is a great place to work, and our employees receive benefits unmatched in the private sector, including longevity pay, insurance benefits, retirement plans, educational benefits, and other employment-related programs befitting the  valued members of our TAMIU family,” he observed.

“Our employee’s ongoing commitment to this University and its mission inspires us, guides our students, and supports their success.  Helping students achieve that success is only possible through our employees’ determination, hard work, and initiative.  We strongly believe that doing so requires competitive pay and benefits.  This, combined with the  opportunity to be an integral part of an innovative community that is a driving force in our region and beyond creates  a remarkable employment environment,” Castillo concluded.
