TAMIU Fall 2024 Welcome Week Closes with ‘CABchella,’ Dusty Reveal, Fireworks, and Soccer

Students at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) kicked off the Fall 2024 semester with a week-long “Welcome Week.”  

 “Welcome Week” offered a series of scheduled activities organized by TAMIU’s Office of Student Orientation, Leadership, and Engagement, Campus Activities Board, the Student Government Association, and other University offices.

Events began the first day of the Fall semester, Monday, Aug. 26, and continued through  Saturday, Aug. 31.  All events were free and open to currently enrolled University students.

Closing Welcome Week scheduled events included:

Thursday, Aug. 29 - Archery Tag, 12:30 – 3 p.m., REC Courts; Transferpalooza, 2 – 4 p.m., STC Patio; Reading the Globe, 5 – 6 p.m., STC 230; and Deadpool & Wolverine Movie Screening, 6:30 – 10 p.m., Cinemark

Friday, Aug. 30 - Campus Clash: Esports Edition, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., STC Rotunda; Greek Showcase, 3 – 5 p.m., Kinesiology – Convocation (KCB) Green; and CABchella, 6 – 11:30 p.m., Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center (ZSC) Green.  CABchella included food, fun, music, a special reveal by Dusty the Dustdevil, and fireworks.

Saturday, Aug. 31 – Women’s Soccer Game, 6 p.m., TAMIU Soccer Field.

In addition to this semester’s Welcome Week activities, a planned Involvement Week celebrating the ways Dustdevils can get involved on campus and in their community takes place Monday, Sept. 2 – Friday, Sept. 6
