Our Mission
The mission of Texas A&M International University’s Community Counseling Center is to engage each individual in a unique plan that not only focuses on immediate and presenting needs but also recognizes the importance of community integration and personal development. The TAMIU Community Counseling Center values mutual cooperation and participation. It is the goal of the TAMIU Community Counseling Center to help the Laredo community help itself.

Services Offered
Counseling services are provided by graduate students in TAMIU’s Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology program. All graduate students are professionally supervised by our center’s faculty supervisors which are licensed psychologists or licensed professional counselors for the State of Texas.
The following services are offered during the Fall and Spring semesters:
- Individual Counseling
- Children and Adolescents (6 to 17 years)
- Adults (18 years and above)
- Psychoeducational Workshops
- Mental Health Referrals

The following are some common reasons individuals may seek assistance from our center:
- Adjusting to life changes
- Assistance with career decisions
- Coping with grief or loss
- Developing skills to foster positive relationships
- Increasing self-esteem
- Learning decision making and goal setting skills
- Managing feelings of anxiety or sadness
- Reducing everyday stress

Business Hours and Scheduling an Appointment
Business hours vary by academic semester. Visits to our center are by appointment only. To obtain an appointment please call our center at 956.326.3120. If you leave a voice message, please include your name and phone number so we may return your call.
A referral form can also be sent to us by fax at 956.326.3118. We will contact you at the number provided once the referral form is received.

Please note, our center is open during the Fall and Spring semesters and is closed during Winter break and Summer session.

A screening process is required to determine eligibility for counseling services.
Services are free of charge (no insurance required).
Services are available in English and Spanish.
