TAMIU Police Department Completes Second Law Enforcement Accreditation Program, Achieving Gold Standard among Accredited Agencies in Texas

Texas A&M International University’s Police Department (TAMIU PD) has successfully completed its second onsite inspection in the Law Enforcement Accreditation Program’s Best Practices Program, making TAMIU PD the only law enforcement agency in Laredo to achieve this standard.
TAMIU’s honor was announced in ceremonies held recently in Galveston at the Texas Police Chief’s Association Annual Conference. The honor was presented to University Police Chief Cordelia Perez.
The Law Enforcement Accreditation Program is a voluntary process that asks police agencies in Texas to prove their compliance with 170 Texas Law Enforcement Best Practices.
These Best Practices were carefully developed by Texas Law Enforcement professionals to assist agencies in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of service, the reduction of risk, and the protection of individual’s rights.
Since its inception in 2006, over 180 Texas Law Enforcement Agencies have been accredited and more are in process to become Accredited Agencies.
The Texas Best Practices Accreditation Program is considered the Gold Standard for Texas Law Enforcement.
