TAMIU Phi Kappa Phi Hosts Faculty Books and Creative Works Showcase
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 296 of Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) will host “The Love of Learning: TAMIU Faculty Books and Creative Works Showcase” October 21 - 25, 2024 in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library De la Chica Room.
The display of texts and art by Phi Kappa Phi members will be open to the public from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. This event is co-sponsored by Phi Kappa Phi and TAMIU’s Office of Research and Sponsored Projects.
An opening ceremony was held on Monday, October 21 in the Killam Library Colonnade and featured guest speaker Dr. Colleen S. Harris, Dean of the Killam Library. Dr. Harris’s presentation was entitled “On Book Publishing: A Librarian’s Love Letter to Accomplished Authors and Aspiring Creatives.”
A total of 15 TAMIU authors and artists are participating in the event including Dr. Harris, Dr. Bernice Y. Sanchez, Dr. Debbie Lelekis, Dr. Kate Houston, Dr. Gilberto D. Soto, Dr. José Cardona-Lopez, Dr. James Moyer, Dr. Cody Perry, Emily Bayless, Dr. Jerry Thompson, Dr. Robert Haynes, Dr. Lola O. Norris, Dr. Andrew Hazelton, Dr. Sean Maddan, and Dr. Habib Ammari.
TAMIU’s Chapter 296 was founded in 2005 and has been awarded national recognition including the Chapter of Merit, Chapter of Excellence, and the Circle of Excellence Silver Chapter. For more on the chapter, visit: https://www.tamiu.edu/coas/lla/phikappaphi
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective all-discipline honor society. Phi Kappa Phi inducts approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff, and alums annually. Once inducted, Phi Kappa Phi members gain a lifelong passport to a global network of academic and professional opportunities.

Registration for the Wintermester and Spring 2025 begins Nov. 4, 2024.
