TAMIU Announces New Energy and Operations Management Program
Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) is excited to announce the launch of its new Energy and Operations Management Program. This initiative, launched last month, represents a significant advancement in the University's ongoing conservation efforts and its steadfast commitment to fostering a more efficient and resilient campus for its students, faculty, staff, and community.
The new program embraces a holistic approach to campus energy conservation, seamlessly integrating people and technology. This approach utilizes a wide range of services, including award-winning software solutions, utility data tracking and analysis, efficiency monitoring, and on-site operational support for more than 15 facilities.
TAMIU acting president Juan J. Castillo said the program is essential to the University’s long-term energy and water conservation objectives.
"By implementing innovative technology and processes, we can minimize our carbon footprint while enhancing the learning environment for our students," Castillo said, "This new program is an essential step for TAMIU in fulfilling its long-term objectives in energy and water conservation."
TAMIU has adopted multiple digital tools from Schneider Electric as part of this initiative. These allow the University to gain a comprehensive overview of energy and operations data, enabling a deeper understanding of equipment lifespan, preventative maintenance strategies, and environmental impact improvement opportunities.
The tools include:
- EcoStruxure™ Resource Advisor: This tool enables TAMIU to consolidate, analyze, and automate data into a single centralized platform, facilitating the management of the University's energy usage and environmental impact.
- EcoStruxure™ Building Advisor: This advanced system proactively monitors TAMIU's building automation and HVAC assets to identify energy inefficiencies, assess and minimize carbon intensity, and diagnose equipment faults effectively.
- Capital Asset Planning: This program provides a holistic view of TAMIU’s facilities, improving master planning and budgeting while ensuring reliability and optimizing maintenance and staffing efficiency.
To streamline its facility management, TAMIU has also partnered with Schneider Electric to establish a dedicated on-site team. This team will manage preventative maintenance services on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis across campus, ensuring continued efficiency and reliability.
“Schneider Electric is proud to partner with TAMIU as they continue to set the standard for the higher education space,” said Tammy Tolle, vice president at Schneider Electric, “Their commitment to impacting local and global communities with innovative programs serves as an inspiring blueprint for others.”
