TAMIU SBDC and IRS Present Aug. 13 Conference for Tax Professionals

Texas A&M International University's Small Business Development Center (TAMIU SBDC) has partnered with the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to provide a low-cost conference for tax professionals in the community who wish to learn about the latest updates to federal and state tax codes.

TAMIU SBDC and IRS have announced the "Texas 2024 Regional Practitioners Meeting" for Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at TAMIU. Several organizations are working together to deliver this informative day for tax professionals to Laredo.

Enrolled agents, Texas CPAs, tax attorneys, tax preparers and other tax professionals in Jim Hogg, Zapata, and Webb County will receive seven hours of continuing education units (CEU) for attending. A Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) is required in order to obtain credits.

Representatives from various business units, such as IRS Collections, Exams, Appeals, and Criminal Investigation, Taxpayer Advocate Service, Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, and Taxpayer Assistance Center will discuss important information, programs, and issues.

Discussion topics include the Inflation Reduction Act: Clean Energy Credits, Community Property Rules, Corporate Transparency Act, 1099 types and reporting, Dirty Dozen and Tax Scams, and Getting Back to Basics: Due Diligence.

Aside from the workshops, a panel discussion will also be held with participants discussing recent tax updates.

Light breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided at the seminar. Registration is $105 per person.
