TAMIU Students Attend National Physiological Summit
Recently, five Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) undergraduate students attended the American Physiological Society Annual Summit where one student received an undergraduate research award.
The award recipient was Gerardo Beltran who received the Barbara A. Horwitz and John M. Horwitz Outstanding Undergraduate Abstract Award for his research, “Effects of Exercise Intensities on Changes in Pro-/Anti Inflammatory Cytokines Following 9-Weeks of Aerobic Exercise Training.”
Other TAMIU students and alumni in attendance were Jocelynn Arellano, Sergio Reyes, Marielise Rodríguez and Kylie Yoemans. Students counted on the support of Dr. Kyung-Shin Park, associate professor and interim chair of the Department of Health Sciences.
The American Physiological Society is one of the largest science organizations in the United States. This year’s Summit was held in Long Beach, CA from April 4 – 8, 2024. Held annually, the Summit includes participation by 3,000 researchers, educators, and students from around the world who are teaching, learning and working in the physiological sciences.
