TAMIU S.A.N.E. Boot Camp 2 Raises Awareness on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence
Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) has announced its two-day S.A.N.E. (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) Boot Camp 2 beginning Thursday, November 14, 2024 and featuring a panel discussion and mock trial focused on the critical issues of sexual assault and domestic violence.
Students, faculty, and the public are invited to attend and participate in these vital events aimed at educating and fostering discussion. Both events are free and open to the public.
The panel discussion will take place from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the TAMIU Student Center Ballroom.
Participants are invited to join an insightful panel discussion featuring professionals from law enforcement, healthcare, crime labs, legal and advocacy sectors. Panelists will share their experiences and approaches to responding to sexual assault and domestic violence cases. The session will include a Q&A segment, allowing attendees to engage directly with panelists, including a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), to learn more about the critical role of medical professionals in the legal system.
The Mock Trial will follow on Friday, November 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.
The TAMIU-SANE program, in collaboration with the Webb County District Attorney, will conduct a simulated trial to illustrate the legal processes involved in prosecuting sexual assault and domestic violence cases. This educational mock trial will highlight expert witness testimony from a SANE, providing valuable insights into the complexities of these cases and helping to build a more informed community.
