IBC Bank & Commerce Bank Keynote Speaker Series at TAMIU Focuses on 'The Phoenix Economy'
How people can take advantage of the emerging new economy will be the focus of discussion during the upcoming IBC Bank & Commerce Bank 2023-2024 Keynote Speaker Series.
Felix Salmon, author and chief financial correspondent for Axios, will present a lecture titled "The Phoenix Economy" Wednesday, April 10 at 6 p.m. at the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Student Center Ballroom. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The lecture is made possible through the TAMIU A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business and the Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade as part of a series sponsored by IBC Bank and Commerce Bank.
In his lecture, Salmon will discuss how the world has been transformed over the course of this short decade, and how people can take full advantage of the new economy that has emerged. According to Salmon, the world is entering a time of sustained volatility not seen since 1945, which is littered with potholes, but also one where the nimble will thrive.
Salmon is the host of the weekly Slate Money podcast, and author of "The Phoenix Economy: Work, Life, and Money in the New Not Normal."
He earned an MA in Philosophy and Art History from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and has worked for noted economist Nouriel Roubini and outlets from Reuters to Condé Nast. He has won every major business journalism prize, including the American Statistical Association's Excellence in Statistical Reporting Award. He lives in New York City.
