TAMIU Staggs Academy Offers Final Open House Info Session for Parents, Students Thursday
One more Open House information session is left for parents and students exploring the possibility of their student attending the Julieta and Frank Staggs Academy of International and STEM Studies on the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) campus in Fall 2024 to earn concurrent high school and college credits.
The remaining Open House date is Thursday, March 21 at 6 p.m. at TAMIU's Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 111. The session is free and open to the public. Additional information is online at https://www.tamiu.edu/coas/theacademy or by phone at 956.326.2860. Information is available in English or Spanish.
Dr. Mayra Peña, director and superintendent of the Staggs Academy, said the Open House is an opportunity for parents and students to learn about the outstanding offerings that the Academy provides students who wish to advance their academic future by earning high school and college credits simultaneously.
"We encourage families to attend our Open House and learn how students can fast-track their academic progress by becoming a part of the Julieta and Frank Staggs Academy of International and STEM Studies," Dr. Peña said, "The Academy covers students' full cost of attendance including tuition, fees, and books, thus, saving each scholar approximately $20,000."
Peña continued, "Students also earn 30 semester credit hours per year or 60 semester credit hours by high school graduation."
The Julieta & Frank Staggs Academy of International and STEM Studies is an innovative, University-level academy on the TAMIU campus for highly gifted and motivated high school juniors and seniors.
