Wildlife Safety
As most are aware, TAMIU’s 300-acre campus is also home to an extended community of regional wildlife.
Among these are white-tailed deer, javelinas, assorted small animals, and snakes.
TAMIU always strives to maintain a peaceful co-existence between human and animal communities.
Many find the campus’ wildlife an attraction on campus.
Some animals herd and feed at irregular times.
They are not your friends and you should not feed them.
Do not pet them.
Do not engage with or otherwise aggravate them.
Injured or sick animals may appear. They should not be approached in any fashion. Instead, report their location to University Police and/or Environmental Health & Safety.
Please exercise caution when walking or driving on campus, especially during early morning or evening hours.
Should you feel that the presence of animals endangers your safe passage, or have encountered an animal and are concerned that it appears endangered, always notify University Police through SafeZone or by calling 956.326.2100 for assistance.
