Falcon Bank Presents $50,000 Gift to TAMIU Banking Academy
The generosity of the holiday season was brought into sharp focus with the recent announcement of a $50,000 donation from Falcon Bank to Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Banking Academy.
Bank officials joined TAMIU leadership recently to announce the gift and present a check for the donation. TAMIU interim president Juan J. Castillo praised Falcon International Bank’s generosity.
“We greatly appreciate Falcon Bank’s generosity and support of this new initiative housed in our A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business. The Banking Academy is dedicated to developing tomorrow’s highly qualified banking and finance executives for South Texas and beyond through co-curricular, action-based learning methods. Having the partnership and support of leaders in the local banking industry is crucial to our success,” Castillo said.
Gilbert Narvaez, Jr. Falcon Bank President and CEO and TAMIU alumnus (’84) said the Bank believes the gift will empower the next generation of bankers.
"It is with great pride and commitment to our shared values of excellence and innovation that we announce our donation to the A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business Banking Academy. We believe in empowering the next generation of bankers and providing them with the resources necessary to thrive in an ever-evolving global market. This contribution represents more than just financial support; it is an investment in the future of education, leadership, and community development. We look forward to seeing the remarkable achievements that will undoubtedly arise from this collaboration," Narvaez said.
Dean of the A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business, Dr. Luis A. Pérez-Batres, concurred and noted that this gift to the Banking Academy addresses needs specific to the shared border.
“This generous gift helps us to shape the next generation of skilled professionals equipped to navigate the banking dynamics of South Texas and beyond. We are honored to drive this transformative change through innovative academic programs and impactful research,” Dr. Perez said.
Other Banking Academy support has come from both Texas Community Bank and the Matias De Llano Charitable Trust administered by the International Bank of Commerce.
