TAMIU College of Nursing and Health Sciences Celebrates National Nurse Practitioner Week with City Proclamation
A special City proclamation honoring National Nurse Practitioners Week was held at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) at the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library Colonnade on Friday, Nov. 15.
While Mayor Victor Treviño was unable to be present because of a flight delay, his son Victor Treviño, Jr. attended and was able to connect electronically with the Mayor who read the proclamation honoring Nurse Practitioners and recognizing their pivotal role as exceptional health care providers.
Dr. Marivic Torregosa, Dean of the School of Nursing and Dr. Carol Gunnoe, Clinical Assistant Professor, led the brief ceremony attend by School faculty, students, graduates and community partners.
In addition to its undergraduate and graduate offerings, the Canseco School of Nursing offers an online Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Post Masters Certificate Program designed as a certificate course of study enabling a practicing Family Nurse Practitioner with a Master of Science in Nursing, nurses with a non-clinical masters in Nursing or nurses with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice to study and prepare for certification as an PMHNP.
The School also offers an online Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Post-Master’s Certificate Plus APRN Core program.
