Niche Rankings Score TAMIU ‘A-’ and Best Value
With Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Late Registration clock ticking down to this Friday, Aug. 30, students and parents still weighing options should review just-released rankings for TAMIU by Niche, considered a market leader in connecting colleges and schools with students and parents through data.
As a University, TAMIU was awarded an overall Niche grade of A-. The Pittsburgh-based company annually ranks colleges and has some impressive rankings for Laredo’s university. The rankings are varied and represent a cross-section of measured offerings and values.
TAMIU president Dr. Pablo Arenaz said rankings such as those provided by Niche have special insight for students and parents, especially as the Fall semester is just days underway. Classes began this Monday.
“While Niche Best College rankings undertake rigorous analysis of academic, admissions, financial, and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education, they also integrate reviews from students and alumni. That’s an important distinction because it captures students’ campus experience and voice. We encourage parents and students to consider these rankings as they review their options, but remind them that Late Registration ends this Friday,” Dr. Arenaz noted.
Niche also proclaimed TAMIU:
No. 4 Best Value in Texas (Rice University No. 1; University of Texas-Permian Basin, No. 2, and University of Texas – Austin, No. 3.)
No. 5 Top Public Universities in Texas
No. 10 Best College in Texas
No. 17 for Colleges with Best Academics in Texas
No. 28 for Best Colleges for Criminal Justice in America and
No. 29 Best Hispanic-Serving Institutions in the U.S.
Niche also singled out some TAMIU majors among the best in Texas as well:
No. 7 Best Colleges for English
No. 11 Best Colleges for History
No. 18 Best Colleges for Finance and Administration.
No. 21 Best College for Communications
Niche also ranked student life, professors, and the campus location:
No. 25 Colleges with the Best Student Life
No. 27 Colleges with the Best Professors in Texas
No. 39 Best College Locations in Texas.
Another important consideration for Niche? Good, nutritious food on campus.
Niche ranked TAMIU No. 4 for Best College Food in Texas. It’s noteworthy that the institutions ahead of TAMIU were much larger flagship schools including the University of North Texas, Texas A&M University, University of Texas, and Texas Tech.
Niche says it has created over 200,000 profiles on schools, companies, and neighborhoods and is used by over 50 million people. Its Best Colleges ranking reviews U.S. Department of Education academic, admissions, financial, and student life data -- along with millions of reviews from students and alumni. Among factors reviewers consider are academic, campus, local area, professor, safety, student life, and value grades as well as student surveys on overall experience, among others.
