Two TAMIU Researchers Included in 2024 Ranking of Best Scientists in Economics and Finance in the World
Two Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) researchers are included in the 2024 Ranking of the Best Scientists in Economics and Finance in the World by Research.com, a leading academic platform for researchers.
Dr. Nereu Kock, TAMIU Regents Professor and Chair of the Division of International Business and Technology Studies in the A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business (ARSSB), is listed under the Social Sciences and Humanities Ranking for Best Scientists, occupying the No. 1,235 spot in the world and No. 613 nationally. Although a business researcher, Dr. Kock is included under the Social Sciences and Humanities Ranking as Social Sciences and Humanities researchers often cite his methods-related research.

Also, Dr. George R.G. Clarke, TAMIU Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade director, and Distinguished Professor in the A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business, is listed under the Economics and Finance Ranking for Best Scientists, occupying the No. 1,794 spot in the world and No. 1,065 nationally.

Dr. Kock said he is honored for the inclusion in the ranking.

Research.com was co-founded by Dr. Imed Bouchrika, the platform's chief data scientist and professor of Computer Science at the National Higher School of Artificial Intelligence, Algeria, and researcher at the University of Souk Ahras, Algeria.
According to Dr. Bouchrika, the 2024 Research.com report includes a list of the top academics in economics and finance to provide the academic community access to the ideas of eminent scientists influential in the field.
He states, "With this report, we aim to inspire researchers, decision-maker, and entrepreneurs worldwide to observe and study market dynamics guided by these scientists. It allows us to familiarize ourselves with scholars in economics and finance from universities across the globe.
The 2024 ranking examined nearly 2,800 scientist profiles from various bibliometric data sources, Dr. Bouchrika states.
For this year's report, the D-index (Discipline H-index) threshold for a scholar to be considered for ranking was set to 30 provided that most of their publications were in the field of economics and finance. Other criteria in addition to the D-index were the proportion of the contributions made within the discipline of economics and finance and a scientist's achievements and awards within that discipline, Bouchrika states.
