Individuals hoping to learn more about severe weather can attend an upcoming SKYWARN® Storm Spotter Training event happening Tuesday, March 26, from 1 – 3 p.m. at Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Student Center, room 236.

The training, offered through the National Weather Service (NWS), is free and open to the public. This is the second year the training is hosted at TAMIU.

To sign up for the training, visit https://www.weather.gov/crp/skywarn

During the SKYWARN Storm Spotter Training, individuals will learn about severe weather, storm spotting techniques, and how to report damage and/or severe weather conditions directly to the NWS. Ultimately, the information helps guide the NWS in their issuance of timely weather alerts and follow-up activities after a severe weather event, such as completing damage surveys.

To date, some 400,000+ volunteers have been trained to keep their communities safe in the event of severe local weather conditions.

For more information on the training program, visit https://www.weather.gov/SKYWARN.
