TAMIU Lecture Examines Local Impact of Drug War Policy

The local consequences of drug war policy will be the topic of an upcoming presentation, “Debate: Implications of Drug War Policy in Border Communities,” at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Friday, Nov. 3, 6 – 8 p.m., in Western Hemispheric Trade Center 111.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The discussion will provide students with contrasting views of drug war policy and its implications for border communities such as Laredo, Texas.

“Debate: Implications of Drug War Policy in Border Communities” features Dr. Ryan Getty, assistant professor, division of criminal justice, California State University, Sacramento, and María Calderon, assistant vice president, TAMIU Office of Global Initiatives.

Dr. Getty received his Ph.D. in criminology from the University of Texas at Dallas, his B.A. and M.A. in criminal justice from the University of Texas at Arlington and an A.A.S. from Georgia Military College also in criminal justice.

This event is sponsored by the Institute for Human Studies at George Mason University and the John Templeton Foundation.
