Deadline Extended for TAMIU Study Abroad Program to England
There is still time to sign up for the chance to experience Shakespeare’s England this summer through the Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Study Abroad Program. The deadline to sign up is Tuesday, Feb. 28 to make the June 2017 trip.
“Although the program is called ‘Shakespeare’s London’ and we will spend a lot of time talking about the Bard and his plays, we will also explore the world of Jane Austen on our trip,” said Dr. Ula Klein, assistant professor, English, and program leader.
The program includes a trip to Bath, home to the Jane Austen Centre. The Centre is a museum in the house where Austen lived in Bath.
“The program has as much to offer fans of Austen and of Shakespeare,” said Dr. Klein.
Last week, TAMIU and Laredo “Janeites” celebrated “Valentines with Jane Austen” by participating in a tea/lunch/lecture and filling all the seats at a free showing of “Pride and Prejudice” at Alamo Drafthouse.
Klein added that there are several scholarships available for students to help pay for the program. It is open to students in all majors and because it’s a study abroad course, it counts for the University’s foreign language requirement.
