Master Performers Series @TAMIU Features Pianist Malan Tonight
Riveting world-renowned pianist Petronel Malan is the featured performer at the upcoming Texas A&M International University Master Performers Series @TAMIU Thursday, Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.
Admission is free and open to the public. This event is sponsored by the Fernando A. Salinas Charitable Trust and TAMIU Housing and Residence Life.
Malan is a multiple Grammy nominee and gold medalist of several piano competitions. She has been lauded by reviewers as an unmistakably creative force in the classical music industry. The New York Times has called her performances “Formidable… dizzying… magical.”
She maintains a full performance schedule as recitalist, orchestral soloist and chamber musician in major venues throughout the world.
Born in South Africa, Petronel began music lessons at age 4 with her mother. When she was 10 years old, she made her debut with the Johannesburg Symphony and wonall major national competitions before moving to the US.
The evening’s program includes music composed by Ludwig V. Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann and Lowell Liebermann.
