TAMIU Art Instructor Earns Awards, Recognition

A local artist’s piece showing in West Texas won over judges and the public in a competition which included works by 87 artists. The San Angelo National Ceramic judges recognized Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) art instructor Angela Carbone for her piece, “Stars and Stripes,” with two awards at the San Angelo National Ceramic Competition—one of 17 Merit Awards and the People’s Choice Award.

Carbone’s “Stars and Stripes,” a depiction of the American flag, is comprised of ceramic pieces made to look like World War II hand grenades.

“Stars and Stripes” was on display at TAMIU’s Studio Art Faculty Exhibit in Spring 2012.

Carbone, originally from New Jersey, has a B.F.A. from Green Mountain College and master’s in fine arts from Rhode Island School of Design. She is currently an adjunct instructor of art at TAMIU.
