Some are cancer survivors. Some love or have loved someone who is standing strong against cancer…or represent someone in their absence.

All will be part of Team TAMIU, a group of Texas A&M International University students, faculty and staff taking part in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life this Friday and Saturday in front of TAMIU’s Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library.

The Relay, now in its fourth year at TAMIU, hopes to raise awareness and support for cancer education.

Team TAMIU members include Vanessa Almaraz, Deborah Blackwell, Gracie Buentello, Socorro Calderon, Albert Chavez, Mary Chavez, Melinda Elizondo, Steve Harmon, Elizabeth Martinez, Trace Pirtle, Janet Salinas, Juanita Soliz, Mary Trevino and Miroslava Vargas.

TAMIU students participating include Xavier Herrera, president; Daniella Cruz, vice president; Lina De La Rosa, secretary; Manuel Gonzales, treasurer and Monika Sanchez, spirit chair.

Also, Crystal Bustamante, Cristina Gallegos, Victoria Garcia, Josefina Gutierrez, Victor Gutierrez, Jessica Leija, Diana Oviedo, Agustina Perez, Luis Stagg, Gabriel Trejo and Linda Vela.
