Quickbooks Hands-On Workshop at TAMIU Friday
The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC) will sponsor a hands-on workshop on “Putting Financial Management to Work for your Business” on Friday, April 3, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at TAMIU’s Billy Cowart Hall, room 113.
A $50 fee will include workbook and lunch. Limited seating is available. Interested persons should call the TAMIU-SBDC office at 956.326.2827, or e-mail sbdc@tamiu.edu
Richard Pérez, SBDC director, explained that the days of manually posting transactions to journals and ledgers are gone. Computer technology has ushered accounting into a new generation. The benefit for business owners is the opportunity to participate at a higher level in the financial administration of their businesses.
Invoicing, sales receipts, check writing, and the subsequent flow of information into a cash-in bank register are among the important basic features found in most accounting software applications. However, these processes represent only a small portion of the accounting procedures that can now be done electronically through software like QuickBooks.
The Friday, April 3 workshop will include the following:
- What is Financial Management?
- Chart of Accounts
- How to Add Items, Customers and Vendors
- Managing Sales and Expenses
- Budgeting and Reports.
To register, call 326.2827 or register online at sbdc.tamiu.edu
Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
