The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC) will provide a Seminar targeted for business owners dealing with difficult people on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at TAMIU’s Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 125. Registration fee is $30. Those registering prior to August 24 receive a $5 discount.

Does “Winnie the Whiner” work in your company? How about “No Way Ned” or “Passive Patti”? For the first time in history there are four generations in the workplace and a strong emphasis on individualization.

How do you deal with all the differences? Do you know what your communication style is? Do you think about the communication style of others?

This workshop identifies unwanted behaviors and describes different styles of communication offering strategies to turn conflict into cooperation.

The workshop will cover:

  • How we got here—generations and expectations
  • Who are the difficult people?
  • What’s your style?
  • What’s their style?
  • Strategies—blending, redirecting listening, trying it out.

To register, call the TAMIU-SBDC office at 956.326.2827 or e-mail: sbdc@tamiu.edu

Office hours are from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
