The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC) will sponsor the hands-on workshop “How to Manage your Business Finances with QuickBooks 2007” on Aug. 9, 2007, from 9 a.m. – 3 pm. at TAMIU’s Dr. Billy F. Cowart Hall, room 117.
The $40 fee includes a workbook and lunch. Register soon; seating is limited. Call the TAMIU SBDC office at 326.2827 or 326.2550, or e-mail sbdc@tamiu.edu to register.
The days of manually posting transactions to journals and ledgers are long gone and computer technology has ushered accounting into a new generation. The benefit for business owners is the opportunity to participate at a higher level in their business’s financial administration.
Invoicing, sales receipts, check writing, and the subsequent flow of information into a cash in bank register are among the important basic features found in most accounting software applications. However, these processes represent only a small portion of the accounting procedures that can now be done electronically through software like QuickBooks.
The Workshop on August will include the following:
- What is Financial Management?
- Easy step interview tips (new company set-up)
- Chart of accounts
- How to add items, customers and vendors
- Managing sales and expenses
- Budgeting and reports
- Resources and tips.
For more information, call TAMIU SBDC at 326.2827 or 326.2550, or e-mail sbdc@tamiu.edu
SBDC office hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday.
