The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC) will sponsor a hands-on workshop on “how to manage your business finances with QuickBooks 2007” on Friday, May 4, 2007, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the TAMIU-Western Hemispheric Trade Center (WHTC), room 105.

A $40 fee will include workbook and lunch. Limited is seating available. Interested persons should call the TAMIU SBDC office at 956.326.2827 or 956.326.2550, or e-mail sbdc@tamiu.edu

The days of manually posting transactions to journals and ledgers are gone. Computer technology has ushered accounting into a new generation. The benefit for business owners is the opportunity to participate at a higher level in the financial administration of their businesses.

Invoicing, sales receipts, check writing, and the subsequent flow of information into a cash in bank register are among the important basic features found in most accounting software applications. However, these processes represent only a small portion of the accounting procedures that can now be done electronically through software like QuickBooks.

The May 4 Workshop will include the following:

  • What is Financial Management?
  • Easy Step Interview Tips (New company set-up)
  • Chart of Accounts
  • How to Add Items, Customers & Vendors
  • Managing Sales & Expenses
  • Budgeting & Reports
  • Resources & Tips

For more information call TAMIU SBDC at 956.326.2827 or 956.326.2550, or e-mail sbdc@tamiu.edu

Office hours are from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Journalists who need additional information or help with media requests and interviews should contact the Office of Public Relations, Marketing and Information Services at prmis@tamiu.edu
