C-SPAN Bus to Visit TAMIU Friday

On Friday, Texas A&M International University students will have an opportunity to meet representatives of cable television's C-SPAN and tour their mobile studios on the C-SPAN Bus.

The C-SPAN bus will be in front of the TAMIU Student Center Friday morning from 8:30-10:30 a.m.

Created in 1979 by the cable television industry as a public service, C-SPAN is a private, non-profit company. Its mission is to provide public access to the political process. It receives no government funding; fees paid by cable and satellite affiliates carrying C-SPAN programming fund operations.

The visit is made possible by Time Warner Cable of Laredo and is free and open to students and the public. Tours of the bus will be available.

The C-SPAN networks (C-SPAN, C-SPAN2, C-SPAN3, C-SPAN Radio, as well as C-SPAN.org.) televise or broadcast the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate when in session. In addition, C-SPAN covers congressional hearings, White House press briefings, speeches, and other important public affairs events.
