Dancers aged two to 50 will demonstrate their knowledge and talent at the Texas A&M International University's Young Dancers Second Annual Recital on Sunday, May 23 at 3 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Bede Leyendecker, assistant professor of dance and choreographer of the event, said nearly 50 students would perform works in ballet, tap, jazz and flamenco to music such as Chopin's "Etude in G Flat" and "Baila Me" by the Gipsy Kings.

"It's an opportunity for the students in this program to show what they've learned over the semester and for the audience to share in the celebration of the body through dance," said Leyendecker.

She said the 'Young Dancer Program' is a community-based program that holds classes from September-May, offering children ages two to 11 a combination class including ballet, tap and Spanish dance and Teen/Adult classes in ballet, tap, jazz and Spanish dance. The event is free thanks to the support of Texas A&M International University Department of Fine and Performing Arts Dance Program.

For more information on the 'Young Dancer Program' or the May 23 recital, please contact Leyendecker at 326.2625, visit offices in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, room 115 or e-mail bleyendecker@tamiu.edu. University office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
