The second in the Open Forums scheduled for Texas A&M International University's three candidates for its provost and vice president for academic affairs takes place Thursday.

Thursday's forum will feature Dr. Dan R. Jones and will be held at 1:15 in Western Hemispheric Trade Center room 116.

Dr. Jones is dean of University College at the University of Houston-Downtown.

The Forums are intended to give the public an opportunity to participate in the University's selection process, said Joe Garcia, vice president for finance and administration and chair of the search committee.

"We encourage our University community and the public to participate in this process and provide us with their insight," Garcia said.

The final forum is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 1:15 p.m., WHTC 116, with Dr. Mauro E. Castro. Dr. Castro is associate dean of the School of Pharmacy at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

The provost and vice president for academic affairs is TAMIU's chief academic officer and is responsible for the maintenance, development and implementation of the University's academic programs.

For additional information on the provost search at Texas A&M International University, please contact Garcia at 326.2380, e-mail to garcia@tamiu.edu or visit offices in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, room 269.
