Hundreds of community members are expected to attend Texas A&M International University's fourth annual "Las Posadas" to be held on Friday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. in the University's Kinesiology/Convocation Building.
The free event, the largest of its kind in the city, celebrates the traditional dance, music, food, and festivities of Mexico. It includes a reenactment of Joseph's and Mary's journey through Bethlehem plus performances by the University's Band, Ballet Folklorico, Ballet Folklorico Juvenil, and award-winning Mariachi Internacional.
After the reenactment processional and entertainment, a free reception will be held. It will feature Mexican foods traditionally served during the holiday season including tamales.
The popular event is sponsored by the A&M International Ballet Folklorico and the University's Student Government Association.
