A&M International Students Attend National Conference
Three Texas A&M International University students and an A&M International administrator participated in the Annual National Orientation Directors Association Conference (NODAC) held recently in Oklahoma City.
The A&M International conference participants were students Hanish Sharma, Victor Villarreal, and Leon Felipe Coronado, and Gabriela Mendoza, Associate Director of the University's Office of Student Development.
The conference, which centered around a theme of "meeting at the crossroads," included workshops on planning orientation programs for adult learners, and building community through education. Mendoza and the A&M International students attended several workshops. Mendoza also presented a workshop on "Designing a Parent/Family Orientation Relevant to Mexican American Families" for conference participants.
She and A&M International students Gabriel Cisneros and Jean Luis Egremy, previously attended the 49th Annual NODAC Conference in Providence, Rhode Island.
Texas A&M International University received First Place for "Outstanding General Brochures/Booklets, Two or More Color" in a publications and media showcase held during the conference. The winning entry was a "Passport to Success: Orientation 1996" booklet designed and printed at A&M International.
