Students must meet the following requirements to be admitted into a study abroad program:
*Students interested in participating that do not meet study abroad requirements may be reviewed on case by case basis for admissions.
Exchange Program: Fall – April 1; Spring – October 15
Summer Program: February 1
Winter Program: October 10
Once you select a program, & reviewed your eligibility, you can start the application process. If you are applying to a faculty-led program, you are required to complete the TAMIU Study Abroad Application via Terradotta. If you are applying to a exchange or affiliate program, you are required to complete two applications, i.e. the TAMIU study abroad application and the application to with the exchange/affiliate program. Check directly with the program provider or your study abroad advisor for application instructions and deadlines.
NOTICE: Travel to a country may be restricted depending on U.S. Department of State travel advisories.
*TAMIU study abroad non-refundable application fee is $200
*Students must be aware of the application deadlines and fees for affiliate and exchange organizations.
The following requirements must be submitted or signed through your study abroad application on TerraDotta.
Students are required to meet with their academic advisor to discuss courses to be completed on their program. If information on specific courses is unavailable, general topics and levels of study should be listed. Students should include more courses than they plan to take, as some courses might not be available at the start of their program. This form is to be completed before departure and uploaded to their post-decision part of the application.
Student Counseling Requirement
Students are required to complete a counseling step that will prepare them for their Study Abroad experience. Information will be sent to students via email with details on how to fulfill requirements and proof of completion will be submitted on the post-decision status.
Travel Health 101
Students are required to visit Student Health Services where an online training module will be asked to be completed. This module will provide up-to-date travel information including: health advisories and recommended vaccines and medications specific to the program. It is important to complete the process at least one month prior to your study abroad program. Follow instructions on the TAMIU Study Abroad Application.
Passport Copy
Submit a copy of your passport information page. If student does not have a passport at the time of the pre-decision of the application, student may select N/A and upload a copy on the post-decision part of the application once obtained. A valid passport book is needed before program departure.
