TAMIU SIFE Encourages
Markets for Local Artists
Members of the TAMIU Students In Free Enterprise
(SIFE) practice and share their business sense with
local artists and artisans at Bazaar Laredo,
a colorful showcase for local artists held the
second Saturday of every month
at the French Quarter on Del Mar Boulevard.
“The Bazaar is an opportunity for local artists to
showcase and sell their arts. Aside from
traditional paintings and jewelry, there is a
great variety of arts such as handbags,
hand-painted articles, decorations,
paper designs and accessories,”
said Ana K. Gamboa, TAMIU-SIFE member.
About 50 – 60 vendors participate.
“We also have musicians provide live
entertainment and sometimes we have
other types of art-related entertainment,
such as face-painting and even a martial arts
demonstration,” Gamboa added.
Gamboa said customer
feedback has been positive.
“They say the Bazaar is a unique and great
event because these types of events
are scarce in Laredo. It reminds them
of being in San Antonio or Austin.
We are adding a new flavor to Laredo.
Soon they won’t be reminded of another
city and will get used to this type of event here,”
Gamboa said.
